Psalms Chapter 51
My Sin Is Found Out!
King David had his sin exposed by God through the prophet Nathan after David had sex with a soldier’s wife. Then when she became pregnant by King David, he had her husband killed in battle so he could hide his sin. But when God exposed it, David was greatly broken before God. He was filled with so much guilt. He felt unworthy and he cried out to God these words:
“Have mercy on me… according to your unfailing love… and your great compassion.”
David cried out for forgiveness several times. He acknowledged that his sin was against God only but the rippling effects hurt several people.
When we sin there’s always a rippling effect that hurt people. You can deal with it in one of two ways:
1. You can let the devil take it and remind you of your sin daily so that you live in guilt and feelings of unworthiness, or
2. You can be broken before God with a repentive heart, and receive total forgiveness and restoration with the Lord. This is the best option because God’s forgiveness brings complete restoration so that you are able to rejoice again in the Lord and be re-established in your faith walk, and be restored in your position of servanthood before the Lord and among the church, his people. You are now free to receive the blessings of God. Which option do you choose?
