Psalms Chapter 49
I’m RICH!!!!
The psalmist has something important for everyone to hear and says, “LISTEN!” He ends up reprimanding those who put their trust in wealth and brag about their riches. He says money can’t redeem a life. However, God can redeem me and my soul through a relationship with his son Jesus. That’s what’s important. So “don’t be over awed when people grow rich and all their material things increase for they will take nothing with them when they die.”
What’s more important? A growing life of money or growing life with Jesus? Don’t get me wrong, a growing life with Jesus may result in increased money but when that happens, it is to be used for the glory of God and for his kingdom and not for our own glory and our own kingdom on earth.
So what are you pursuing? What is the most important thing in the world to you? Is it money? Is it your peers because they make you feel popular? Is it a particular relationship that consumes your time? Be careful for none of these things will go with you when you die. Yet, you’re developing relationship with Christ is what’s eternal. How’s your fellowship with the Lord in prayer and Bible reading? Is it really that important to you? How’s church and Sunday School? Is it really that important? Are you leaving a legacy of Christ for your family? Or are you leaving them a lot of money and stuff that don’t point them to Jesus?
