Psalms Chapter 47
Let God Be Greatly Exalted.
The psalmist instructs God’s people to clap their hands, to give shouts of joy to the Lord, and to sing praises to God!!!!!
Then he says why to do it:
Because God our Father is awesome, he’s King over all the Earth, he defeats the enemies, He reigns over all the nations, he sits on his Holy Throne.
If we did something extraordinary for our kids, such as buy them a puppy, more & likely they would find great delight in what we’ve done. They’d get all excited and they would smother us with so much love, so many kind words, and so many hugs and kisses. They’re so happy they’d tell EVERYONE about this great gift you gave them!!!
My goodness, we’d feel so good about what we’ve done for them. We’d be very proud of their expression of gratitude.
BUT…….
what if after all this they showed no emotion of appreciation? How would that feel? For me, disappointing and hurt.
When it comes to us showing God our love and appreciation for all the extraordinary things he does for us, are we role modeling to our kids and others a joyous expression? Do we get so excited that we openly share it with our family and friends? Or do we show little or no expression of appreciation? Perhaps God is disappointed in us when he does such great things, whether they be little or big, and we take his actions for granted.
Let’s do as the psalmist instructed us to do, let us GREATLY EXALT OUR GOD for all he has done for us.
