Psalms Chapter 46
I Love Chaos.
The psalmist says that God is our ever present help in trouble (vs 1) therefore we won’t fear even when everything around us is total chaos (vs 2-3). We have the comfort of knowing that God is with us, he is in control of all things, and he does not fall (vs 4-9).
God alone is the one who has the power to put an end to the chaos around us. So to what degree do we trust God when chaos exists? Do we want to take control of our chaos so we can make it “better”? Or is God the first person we go to for help or for refuge? Are we more often so busy taking care of chaos that we forget God? How far are we willing to trust God with our chaos? Do we trust him for one day? “God, I’ll give you one day to take care of this or you’re done!”
Do we give him 1 day, 7 days, one month, one year? Where is the stopping point of our faith? When God is slow to mending our chaos are we conscious of the little things he’s doing in our lives along the way? Are we thankful when we are stretched with our faith knowing it forces us to persevere and such perseverance opens the door to God to make us more like Jesus. You understand this thought process? Chaos comes and we’re mad at God but in reality it’s an opportunity to become like Jesus. Do we want to be like Jesus? The answer is an obvious yes, but when chaotic situations come, now all of a sudden the answer is NO! God is preparing us for eternity. We have to decrease in our flesh and selfishness while Jesus must increase in our lives and in our spirit. Not letting God make us more like Jesus is not preparing us for eternity in Heaven. Instead it puts the power in your flesh and our flesh has no part in the kingdom of God.
