Psalms chapter 42
I’m Thirsty for God!
The psalmist is so thirsty for God that he is pursuing God just like a deer pants for water when it has none. The deer is so focused on finding water that nothing will stop him or distract him. That should be our desire when it comes to our pursuit of God, and our hunger for His Word. We should let No distraction in life keep us from spending time with God. Even if we feel forgotten by God, or downcast, we will put our hope in him.
The psalmist is so downcast yet he remembers the days of being so close to God with lots of joyful praises to him. Yet he’s losing hope and needs to once again put his Hope in God. The psalmist says for the second time, I must put my hope in God and no one else believing that he will one day praise God again with joy.
Are you pursuing and thirsting for God with all your heart even amongst your greatest turmoil. Even if you feel forgotten by God and downcast? Take the psalmist’s advice that he gave twice: put your hope in God for you will again praise him with joy. Don’t give up.
