Psalms Chapter 28
GOD: My Strength And My Shield.
The psalmist says to the Lord, I call out to you because there’s no one else who can help me. I need Mercy because my need is intense. So don’t turn a deaf ear to me or remain silent because I can’t make it. Don’t let my circumstances destroy me and don’t let the wicked triumph over me.
Then the psalmist praises the Lord and declares that God has heard his cry for mercy. God has given him “Strength” so he can move forward in this battle. God has been his “Shield” so he can defend himself from the lies and the attacks from the devil. The psalmist declares that deep down in his heart he does trust the Lord and knows God is helping him. As a result, the psalmist leaps for joy and praises the Lord in song. He calls the Lord his Shepherd that carries him when he needs it.
Do we call on the Lord realizing he’s the only one? Have we ever cried for Mercy because our need was so intense? Have we ever felt the Lord was not listening? May we, by faith, trust the Lord and praise him in advance for being our STRENGTH so we can move forward and be our Shield to protect us from the devil’s attacks. And in those darkest moments may we know in our hearts that he is carrying us. Trust Him!
