Psalms Chapter 149
God Crowns The Humble In Victory!
The psalmist calls us to praise the Lord and to enter into his presence with humility for God “crowns the humble in victory.”
We are in a constant battle against the evil one. We can’t approach a battle unprepared and unequipped. God’s people were faced with opposition all the time. Nations were against them. They needed to be prepared to fight the battle.
1. Praise to God was essential. It was as a way of acknowledging God as the Great I Am, as their deliverer.
2. Humility before the Lord was a way of acknowledging their inability to fight on their own. They needed the Lord.
3. Being equipped for battle was essential: you needed your armor, your shield, and your double-edged sword.
May we be equally prepared and equipped. May we, even during the days of oppositions, give praise to God. Let him know you are acknowledging your need for his power. And to do so with humility because God gives Victory to the humble and not the arrogant. Lastly, may we be equipped with a double-edged sword: meaning the word of God, the Bible. Ephesians 6:10-17 talked about being equipped for battle. Verse 17 says to take the sword of the spirit which is the word of God. Jesus fought against the devil by using the word of God. So may we invest into the word of God daily so we can stand up against every flaming arrow the devil shoots at us.
