Psalms Chapter 142
Oops, I Guess It Wasn’t HOPELESS After All!
This is the psalm where David is in a cave hiding because there are 3,000 soldiers looking for him to kill him. Can you imagine hiding to save your life and what your prayers would be like as you call out to the Lord. It would be difficult to even imagine any sense of Hope in such a situation. Hear some of the words of David:
I call for mercy. I pour out my complaint. I tell of my troubles. My spirit grows faint. No one is concerned for me. I have no refuge. I’m in desperate need. They are too strong for me.
What are your life circumstances? When you pray, do you use words that depict a hopeless situation? Are you feeling all alone? With Christ, there is hope. Are you willing to wait on the Lord? Are you willing to let go of your circumstances completely to the Lord? Are you willing to accept his answer because it may go against your will?
David said in the last verse, “Set me free from my prison that I may praise your name.”
We don’t read in this chapter what happens to David, but God delivers him in a miraculous way. I wonder if, afterwards, David said, “Oops, I guess it wasn’t a hopeless situation after all!”
Let me encourage you to wait on the Lord! Trust Him! It’s not a hopeless situation like you’ve convinced yourself to believe. There is HOPE! You CAN Praise Him!
