Psalms Chapter 137
The Joy Is Gone.
The psalmist is hurting because God’s people have been taken captive by their enemies. As they sat by the river of Babylon, they wept because they remembered the Lord God they had forgotten. They remembered the Holy City of Jerusalem and how destruction fell upon them and the city. They longed to see the day when they could return to their city and serve the Lord God with joy.
Has something happen in your life that the joy of the Lord has been sucked out of your life? Have you been walking so long without the Lord that you no longer have the joy? Has the enemy, the devil, deceived you into thinking there is no God? Are you held captive by the devil. If so, I pray you have the heart of the psalmist who wept because the joy of the Lord had left them. God is knocking on the door of your heart. He’s waiting for you to return to him. Confess your sin and ask for forgiveness. Let him bring his Joy back into your life. Let him give you a new heart with a new vision.
Lord, help me have your joy in my Faith walk. Give Me Your eyes of compassion when I weep for those who are lost without you. Give me your vision, your plan for reaching lost and hurting people. May I be busy doing your work versus busy doing my own thing.
