Psalms Chapter 135
Stop! Who Or What Are You Praising?
Once again, the psalmist calls us to praise the Lord because he is good and it’s pleasing to him. Because the Lord is great and no one is greater. He’s all powerful. His name endures forever. It says that people create their own god but though they have mouths, they can’t speak. Though they have eyes they can’t see. Though they have ears they can’t hear. May we put away our gods and fear the Lord and praise him.
Who is greater than God? The Christian answer is “No one!” Then who or what captivates us more? What stirs our hearts more? God, or someone or something else? Does God draw your energy more than anyone or anything? Or do we find ourselves putting our energy, time, and money in other things or people? Because that which captivates our hearts more becomes our God. At what point do we say to ourselves, “STOP!” Then turn to the Lord God and praise him and devote our time to him and make him every bit of every part of our lives?
May we all check each room of our hearts today. Is God allowed in every room or do we need to do a cleaning so we can Praise Him with all our hearts and not just some of it?
