Psalms Chapter 122
Yay!!! I Get To Go to Church!
Let’s ponder for a second. What excites you? Seriously! What is it that gets you excited? As a kid it was Christmas. It was time for presents and spending time with a lot of family members. Plus we played a lot of games with each other.
The psalmist said, “I rejoiced with those who said to me, let us go to the house of the Lord!” Was that one of your answers? Is meeting with other Christians and with God and church cause you to get excited? Why would it? Or should I ask, why wouldn’t it? How you answer that has a lot to do with your heart and attitude. Meeting with God and God’s people should excite us and cause us to rejoice. What an opportunity to encourage others and be encouraged. An opportunity to grow closer to the Lord and others because of God’s word. Plus an opportunity to praise the name of the Lord our God. And to be honest with you, we need each other.
God, help me rejoice and be excited to be in church. Help me not to go to fulfill my “duty” but to go anticipating the work of your spirit. Aldo, help me go with the heart that not only want to receive but to give also.
