Psalms Chapter 120
I Want Peace But They Want War.
The psalmist is frustrated because he is surrounded by people who wish to do evil. They are deceptive in their ways and are always trying to start a fight. The psalmist declares how he longs for peace but whenever he speaks, those who are against him try to start a war.
Perhaps you have been in situations where you just want to live a life of love and peace toward others. But there are those who oppose your belief system so they’re always trying to antagonize and start something against you. They try and get you upset by saying things they know that oppose your faith in hopes it will promote an argument.
It’s best to walk away from such situations. Don’t let then pull you down to their destructive level. It’s sad because God will punish those who oppose him with an everlasting punishment.
Lord, people who like to start arguments are hard to be around. But my prayer is that you would help me to know how to respond so they see Christ in me. I don’t wish that they perish but that they would find faith in you and walk with you.
