Psalms Chapter 117
Praise God Enthusiastically!
This chapter has two verses that jumped out to me: “Praise the Lord, all you Nations; extol him, all you peoples. For great is his love toward us, and the faithfulness of the Lord endures forever. Praise the Lord!”
Deuteronomy 6:4-5 declares that there is only one God and we are to love him with all our being. This one and only God loves us with such great intensity and our words can’t define such love. Plus he will be faithful to us forever, whether we are faithful to him or not. It is to this God that all nations and all people should praise and not just praise but extoll him which means “Praise Him ENTHUSIASTICALLY!”
If we truly believe that God loves us with a great intensity and that he truly is faithful to us at all times, then why would we not want to praise him more and do so enthusiastically? And if our heart was enthusiastic over the Lord, how would our lives look or be different? Would we be on our knees more? Would we be more excited to share with others what God is doing in and through our lives? Would we trust him more when undesirable circumstances arise in our lives?
