Psalms Chapter 115
Not To Us, I Repeat, Not To Us!
The psalmist repeats himself when he emphasizes that it’s “not to us, Lord, not to us, but to your name be the glory.” Our attitude should always be about how I can take what I do and what I say and turn it into something that points people to Jesus. If I were to accomplish a marathon, or speak at an event where 25 people get saved by Jesus, or I save an old lady from an attacker, would I dare boast about it, as if I did something great in my own power? Would I be so quick to forget that my abilities I have are because God gave them to me.
Over and over again in the Old Testament, Kings fought battles and often boasted in themselves taking all the glory. More than once God humbled them. Do we even want to go down that path only to one day be humbled by God as a reminder that it’s not by our might nor by our power but by the spirit of the Lord, Zachariah 4:6.
