Psalms Chapter 11
Don’t Be Confused.
The psalmist declares that it’s in the Lord that he takes refuge. He declares that, “The Lord is in his holy Temple, the Lord is on his heavenly throne. He observes everyone on Earth; his eyes examine the righteous.”
Let us put our hope in Jesus and not in anything or anyone else. Ultimately it is God we will stand before on judgment Day. And the righteous in Christ will escape his judgment and will inherit heaven. This is where people get confused: they think “nice” people, who aren’t “wicked ” by earthly standards, automatically go to heaven. And faith in Jesus has nothing to do with it. The Bible says it’s not by our good deeds that we are saved, but by God’s grace through our faith in Jesus!
I’m not asking, are you a good person? I’m asking, are you a follower of Christ because of your faith in him? What’s neat is that once we have faith we will want to do good deeds, not because we’re good people but because of our faith in Jesus. Good works developed outside of one’s faith is insufficient for salvation.
