Proverbs Chapter 4
Listen And Obey.
Solomon writes words and asks us to “pay attention” because there’s so much we can learn if we would but listen. He tells us to listen to our parents’ instructions versus thinking they have nothing to offer. If we could swallow our pride and listen and obey.
Solomon tells us to take hold of wisdom with all our hearts and two get it at all costs. That’s how important it is. We are instructed to guard and protect [God’s] wisdom so we never lose it. We are told to keep our eyes on the path of righteousness and avoid all evil paths. We’re told to turn away from all evil and to keep our mouths from all perversity and corruption.
We live in a world today where people want to live their life how they want to. They definitely don’t like their parents telling them what to do, and definitely don’t believe in God and His Word. Following Jesus and his word is not the popular path to travel but it brings eternal life. Keep your eyes on the path of Christ and follow him at all costs, even if it means death. Don’t be deceived by the teachings of this world.
