Proverbs Chapter 31
Heed Wise Counsel So You Can Be The Best You Can Be.
King Lemuel wrote this last chapter in Proverbs and wrote down what his mother instructed him to write.
She tells him to be aware of two things that can ruin a king:
1. Women: he was instructed not to put his energy on women for they ruin a king. This is not me trying to badger women. Just the opposite. Men who are consumed with women often lose respect for them because they’re only thinking of their selfish needs. So if a man’s energy is focused hard on women they can lose focus on making responsible decisions. But this could be said of anything in this world, and could be a problem for a man or a woman who selfishly pursue it. It could be a hobby, a sport, money, relationships, etc. We must learn to keep things in perspective so it doesn’t overtake our thought life, our energy, and break our focus off of the Lord.
2. Alcohol: the king is instructed not to drink wine and beer for both mess up one’s mind and can result in making bad decisions. Can you imagine teaching this concept in our world today. You would be laughed at!
