Proverbs Chapter 29
Don’t Let The Desire Of Popularity, Money, Or Power Corrupt How You Treat Others.
Verse 4 says, “By Justice a king gives a country stability, but those who are greedy for bribes tear it down.” Verse 7: “The righteous care about Justice for the poor, but the wicked have no such concern.” Verse 10: “the bloodthirsty hate a person of integrity and seek to kill the upright.” Verse 27: “The righteous detest the dishonest; the wicked detest the upright.”
Justice is essential in keeping law and order and stability among the people. The desire for money, power, or popularity will often corrupt a justice system. Innocent people end up being declared guilty while the guilty are declared innocent.
But what about us? We don’t have to be a corrupt politician in order to be guilty of showing Injustice. Think about it! When someone is being disrespectful to your good friend, don’t you stick up for them. You’re even willing to defend them at any cost?! But what about the poor person with few friends and not so nice of clothes? When someone, even one of your friends, disrespects the poor person, do you join in? Or do you do nothing? Or do you defend them as well even if it means your peers ostracize you?
What you do for one person, you should do for another regardless of their faith, gender, race, or popularity. We all deserve to be shown love and respect.
