Proverbs Chapter 1
The Fear Of The Lord Is The Beginning Of Wisdom.
The theme and purpose of Proverbs are mentioned in verses 1-7 and are written by Solomon, son of David. The purpose is to gain wisdom and instruction so one can do what is right, just, and fair. One has to be willing to listen and hear what is being said. It says, “The fear of the Lord is the beginning of knowledge, but fools despise wisdom and instructions.”
So we must understand that God is the holder of all Wisdom and Truth. Having fear of the Lord means you are willing to let go of any truth that does not coincide with God’s Truth. Here can be the problem: our stubbornness and selfishness can interfere with such Godly Truth. People most often don’t like getting instruction. They hate to let go of their ways.
God, help me to not be so set in my ways that I miss your loving Truth designed to help me be the best that I can be for you.
