Numbers Chapter 23 and 24
Don’t be Intimidated by Others.
We see King Balak, the king of Moab, desiring for Balaam to curse Israel so he can defeat them in battle. Three times King Balak tries to get Balaam to curse Israel and three times Balaam ends up blessing Israel instead. King Balak is furious with Balaam and even struck him once. Balaam says to the king, “Didn’t I tell you I can only speak the words that God tells me to speak?”
Then Balaam prophesized to the king that Israel will defeat all the nations in the coming days, including Moab.
Each time Balaam spoke to the king, he was in the presence of all the leaders of the King which would be very intimidating. The temptation to say what would please them would be great. Yet Balaam was faithful to the Lord.
What situations or circumstances are intimidating to each of us that makes it hard to be faithful to the Lord? What steps can we take to overcome this? May we daily pray to God and even turn to an accountability partner so we can take claim of the victory that comes from the Lord so we can walk in faithfulness to our God.
