Numbers Chapter 14
There’s A Problem With The Leadership!
When God’s people heard the report from 10 of the 12 spies that they couldn’t defeat the enemy in Canaan, the rest of the people were filled with fear and wept all night. They rebelled against God, Moses, Aaron, Caleb, and Joshua. They were ready to get a new leader to take them back to Egypt while killing God’s righteous leaders.
This is a reminder that if the leadership is not behind God’s leading, the congregation will not either.
God punished the people.
– God inflicted the 10 faithless leaders with a plague and they died.
– The Israelites who crumbled in fear against God would not be allowed to enter the Promised Land. God said he would wait 40 years to ensure that all the grumblers would die and only their children and their children would enter the Promised Land.
There are consequences for lack of faith amongst leaders and the church. If God says he’s going to do something, then trust him. Do not let fear into your hearts.
