Numbers Chapter 12
Verbal and Physical Discipline.
Moses’s brother and sister, Miriam and Aaron, spoke against Moses because he had married a Cushite woman. They tried to discredit Moses’s authority and were claiming that God was speaking through them as well.
But Moses was a very humble man and God called Moses, Miriam, and Aaron all together. And God verbally disciplines Miriam and Aaron for speaking against God’s servant, Moses. But he also disciplined Miriam physically so that she had leprosy for 7 days so she could bear her shame.
When we sin against God, the Holy Spirit will convict us of our sins. In our spirit we will know we have sinned and are in need of repentance. But if in our hearts we ignore this conviction, we are at risk of facing Gods further discipline that will expose our sin and then be put to shame. May we all respond to the spirits conviction in repentance immediately.
Lord forgive me of my sins and help me to repent of all sins. Help me to be a humble and faithful servant like Moses.
