Matthew 18:1-6
Part 3 Don’t Cause Others To Stumble.
Part 1: We discussed how those who operate under humility are the greatest in the Kingdom of Heaven.
Part 2: We discussed how those who receive the ones who are humble, in Jesus name, receive Jesus.
Part 3 is all about the consequences to those who cause others to stumble.
Verse 6: Jesus says, “but whoever causes one of these little ones who believe in me to stumble, it is better for them to have a heavy millstone hung around their necks, and to be drowned in the depths of the sea.”
This verse haunts me. Satan often brings to my mind a past mistake when I behaved in a manner that did not bring glory to God and caused a new born Christian to engage with the same behavior. I caused this little one to stumble and I gave God a bad name. I call it one of my regrets in life that I wish I could take back.
I thank God for his grace and mercy. I thank God for the forgiveness he provides, no matter what we’ve done! I deserve a large millstone around my neck and to be drowned in the depths of the sea. I deserve that, but God’s grace and mercy forgives me and restores me.
The Lord calls us to REPENT of our sins and CONFESS our sin, and when we do it unleashes the power of God’s FORGIVENESS! Thank you Jesus!!!!
And it’s amazing how much Satan loves to remind us of the very things that God has removed from us.
1 John 1:9 if we confess our sins, the Lord is faithful and just, and will forgive us of our sins and cleanse us from ALL unrighteousness.
Hebrews 10:17 then the Lord adds, their sins and lawless acts, I will remember no more.
Hebrews 8:12 For I will forgive their wickedness and remember their sins no more.
Lord help me to remember the power of forgiveness, but also remember the scars, not for condemnation sake, but as a reminder to not go back where I was before.
Lord help me to be faithful. Help me to be a role model for you. Help me encourage others to be faithful.
