Leviticus Chapter 6
We Will Be Held Accountable.
God said, If a person willfully sins against someone by robbery, extortion, or lying about taking something that belonged to another person, then the guilty one must repay that person in full plus 1/5 more.
To some, this might seem too harsh because they feel we should show more Mercy. But to another it may not be harsh enough. Regardless of what one may feel, to me, the bottom line is a person has to be held accountable for their sins. There has to be some kind of consequences so one learns not to repeat an offensive act.
What if God exposed all our silent sins or thoughts to those around us? Would we be embarrassed? I would. Do I want to be held accountable? Sure I do, BUT…. The fact that I say BUT means there is a part of me that definitely does not want my sin exposed in order to be held accountable.
So instead of saying, I don’t want to be held accountable, because I do need to be, then let this be a motivation to strive toward holiness all the more. Let this be a motivation to confess my sins often and repent from them as well so that I don’t have to have my sin exposed!
God forgive me of my sins and help me repent now so I don’t have to be embarrassed later.
