Leviticus Chapter 25
You Don’t Own That!
Got instructs the people of Israel that land is not to be sold permanently because it belongs to the Lord. People were to understand that everything they have is temporary. What they have has been entrusted to them from the Lord.
God goes one step further and reminds the people to take care of the poor with the blessings HE has given them.
If we could capture the idea that what we have belongs to the Lord then we would be more open to share with others with what God has given to us.
Helping the needy doesn’t necessarily mean giving them “stuff”, but may mean using what we have to help them with their need. That could include our finances but may also include our possessions or our gifts. I could use my car to help someone get to a location or I could use my gift of speaking to help someone in search of Truth.
Let your prayer be, “God use me today to help someone with that which you have entrusted to me! Amen!”
