Leviticus Chapter 20
I Would Never Sacrifice My Child To A False God.
Once again God calls his people to be holy and to not live according to the standards of this world.
One thing He mentioned was if anyone sacrifices their child to a false god they were to be put to death. No worries, because we would never do that. Or would we?
If we allow our child to pursue something that takes their focus off from God, are we not, in essence, leading them from Life With God toward death with the world? Kids are so busy with sports, and parents often transport them to one sport event after another, after another, after another, after another. As a result God becomes less, and less, and less of a priority. In essence, it’s like some parents and their kids over into the World of sports and God is kept on the outskirts. I’m all for sports for our children. Sports were key and helping me regain my self esteem. But as parents, are we teaching them that sports is an element that God can use for his glory? Do we make the things they pursue an aspect of God or not?
Or as parents, do we pursue our own dreams to the point that Christ is not a part of our lives, thus is not a part of their lives? As a result, they don’t get the spiritual feeding that is essential for eternal life.
That’s why in Deuteronomy 6, God says from the time they wake up till the time they go to bed they are to be reminded of God Almighty. Is that what we are doing or is it just something we do on Sunday?
Be careful of the standards of this world lest you get sucked into it ever so slowly. Promote Christ, ALWAYS, in your life and in the life of your family.
