Leviticus Chapter 16
God and the Scapegoat.
In this chapter, Aaron, the priest, make several sacrifices and offerings. One of them is the offering of the scapegoat. This is where he takes a live goat before the Lord and confesses all the sins of the people of Israel upon the goat. Then the goat is released in the wilderness where it travels to a Faraway place.
This is a reminder to us today how Jesus became our scapegoat when he took our sins upon himself. So when we confess our sins to the Lord, he is faithful and just and will forgive us our sins, I John 1:9. But he doesn’t just forgive us of our sins, but he also removes the sins from our lives as far as the East is from the West. Our sins are taken not just to a far away land but to an endless place.
Do you have any unconfessed sins? Take it to the Lord today. His love is great and he will forgive you and cast away the sin to an endless place. Psalms 103:11-12.
