Leprosy and Sin Have A Lot in Common.
Leprosy is an infection of the skin and God gives very detailed info on how a priest is to test if a person does or doesn’t have leprosy and what needs to be done if they do or do not have leprosy.
Today, leprosy affects about 208,000 people a year and is a slow showing skin infection. It’s common in Asia and Africa but there are cases in the U.S.
Someone may come across the bacteria that causes leprosy, but may not show symptoms of leprosy for up to 20 years. It’s often a very slow, slow, slow process before seeing symptoms of leprosy. It affects the nerves in the body and leprosy can be cured with medicine which one could end up taking for 2 years. If there are nerve damage, it can’t be repaired but the skin infection can be cured.
Leprosy reminds me of sin. We can flirt with sin and think nothing of it. But if not careful it can, over a very long long period of time, develop into a great destruction. It can ruin marriages, relationships, one’s job, one’s physical body, one’s commitment to the Lord. Sin that takes several years before destroying one’s body or relationships, can take years to bring the necessary healing and reconciliation.
The damage that is done can be forgiven with great reconciliation, but the scars of the damage can always be there.
CHALLENGE: Be careful and don’t flirt with SIN. You’re only setting yourself up for much damage.
