Leviticus Chapter 12
- Let’s Live In A Safe And Sterile Place.
A woman who gives birth to a child is considered unclean. The need for purification is therefore expressed for the woman and child. During birth there’s a discharge from the mother and it takes a number of days to go away completely. A female child born also has a discharge that occurs, so therefore, requires a longer purification process than a male child born.
God’s concern for a mother giving birth shows his intense love and concern for humankind. Yes, he wants her and the baby clean and purified but he also gives the law of purification to ensure the mother takes steps to protect her and the child so as not to be contaminated and cause infection that ends up hurting the baby or mother.
In hospitals today, they try to ensure a safe sterile place in the birthing room. That’s God’s heart and love when it comes towards the purification process.
For us today, may we be just as concerned for each decision that we make when it comes to our spiritual well-being. How will my decisions today affect my commitment to the Lord, to my spouse, my family, or the church?
God loves us so much and cares about our safety. How much do we love the Lord? How concerned are we about maintaining a safe and sterile environment for our spiritual bodies?
