Leviticus Chapter 11
Being Holy Isn’t Always Easy.
Gods holiness and his desire for us to be holy is greatly emphasized throughout the Book of Leviticus. This chapter focuses on the foods that are permissible to eat and not permissible to eat. To violate these food laws is to be considered unclean or unholy. Twice, God says in this chapter, “Be Holy because I am Holy!”
Our desire to be holy should encompass every aspect of Our Lives. In the New Testament, God said to Peter that all foods were now permissible to eat. But just because they are permissible to eat doesn’t mean being holy is any less important.
What we feed ourselves spiritually will determine what kind of life style we live. What are you feeding yourself? What TV shows or social media are you watching? What type of people do you surround yourselves with? The people you most surround yourselves, are the ones you are most likely to become like.
I challenge you to see an even greater value of the fellowship of believers in church. I encourage you to invest your life and the life of your children, not just in church, but also in Sunday school. I value Sunday School greater than church because in Sunday school you get a chance to share your thoughts and ask questions which end up helping each other. You also learn the value of praying for one another and encouraging each other.
Plus, Sunday School is a good spiritual food for you and your children. It’s an opportunity to help surround yourselves and your kids with positive spiritual people which will have long-term effects when it comes to who they choose to hang out with in the future. You would never deprive your children of physical food therefore we should want to feed them as much spiritual food as possible. Remember what Jesus said to the devil, “Man cannot live on bread alone but by every word that proceeds from the mouth of God.”
I know work can inhibit one’s level of commitment to the spiritual feeding from the church, but do everything possible to make the fellowship important in your life and the life of your children.
