Judges Chapter 21
Christians Bound With Non-Christians Just Don’t Work.
Once Israel (the 11 tribes) defeated Benjamin (the 12th tribe):
1. They swore they would never let any of their daughters marry any of their men from the tribe of Benjamin. They did not want their evil practices to influence their daughters.
2. They wept because they didn’t want Benjamin to be a separate tribe from the other 11 and they wanted to help them get reconnected with God and with the other 11 tribes.
1. I can relate with Israel in that as our daughters grew, Karin and I did not want to see them Marry Non-Christians.
We weren’t perfect parents, by any means, but we wanted to see our girls connected with Christ and in marriages where they could continue to grow in their faith with Christ. We love our daughters, son-in-laws, and our grandkids. For me the greatest gift is for all of us to be connected together with Christ.
2. I love how Israel wept over the tribe of Benjamin because of their broken relationship with God. May we all have that kind of love and concern when one of our loved ones are not walking with the Lord. May we also come alongside them so we can love and encourage them back with the Lord.
CHALLENGE: Take time today to pray for a loved one who does not know the Lord. Pray God can use you to come alongside them and love and encourage them in some way for the Lord.
