Judges Chapter 18
Give God ALL The Glory And Not Just Part Of It.
The tribe of Dan sought land that was allotted to them from God. They sent five men to spy out the area that they could take possession of. On their way they stayed with Micah and they recognized Micah’s priest. The five spies located good land amongst the Laish people and reported this to their tribe. They said we must go immediately and take the land, so 600 armed men went out to take the land. When they came to Michael’s house they stole his idols and graven images plus they stole his priests so he could be the whole tribes priest instead. They fought against the Laish people and had victory over them. They took possession of the land and immediately set up their false gods and idols. This was their way of giving Glory to their false gods.
Why is it when we experience success we neglect to give God all the glory? Why do we insist on taking some of the glory for ourselves?
Look at what I did.
See how hard I trained.
See how hard I worked to get where I am?
See how hard I studied to become successful?
I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I!
This is a dangerous attitude to hold on to. May we be quick to give God ALL the glory, even for our ability to WORK HARD or the ability to STUDY HARD.
Yes, we need to be diligent in working hard and studying hard in order to move forward for the Lord. We need to be committed to his calling, but don’t take Glory for your ability to work and study hard, for even that is a gift from God. Now I hope this doesn’t happen, but tomorrow I could be in an accident and lose the use of my legs or even have a traumatic brain injury affecting my thinking ability for the rest of my life.
Let this be a reminder to never forget to use all our God-given abilities to their fullest while giving him all the glory.
