Judges Chapter 16
WAKE UP!!!
Samson begins to flirt and give in to sin. First he sleeps with a prostitute. Later he falls in love with a Philistine woman named Delilah. It appears they are living together because she’s there during the night. The lords of the Philistines bribe her to find out what they must do so that Samson loses his strength. Remember God said don’t cut your hair or he’d lose his strength.
So Delilah begins to wear him down and each time he gave her a lie, but because she pressured him to the point he was “impatient to the point of death,” he revealed his secret to her so that while he was asleep she cut his hair and as the Philistines came upon him he was confident that he would destroy them as he did the other times. But this time the Philistines overtook him, plucked out his eyes, bound him in chains, and had him run the grinder in the prison.
Then one day the Philistines had a huge celebration with thousands of Philistines within a structure that held them all. They worshiped their god Dagon for giving Samson into their hands. Then they had Samson come out in front of everyone to ridicule him.
Samson asked God for strength one last time so that he could knock out the supporting pillars so that the building would collapse and he and the Philistines would die.
So God gave him strength one last time and Samson is avenged for what they did to him. More Philistines died that day then all the Philistines ever killed buy Samson in previous years.
Samson flirted with sin and eventually gave in to sin. Are you flirting with sin? Are you slowly letting sin have control of your life? Are you spiritually sleeping? WAKE UP!!!!! Call out to the Lord now for He is willing to forgive and even use you again mightily for his purpose. Don’t put it off!
