Joshua Chapter 18 and 19
Take Every Situation to God In Prayer.
The rest of the territories were divided amongst the remaining 7 tribes by casting lots for the land. Casting lots was a system they used and trusted God to direct the outcome. They may cast lots with coins, sticks, dice, cards, or whatever else. It was Israel’s way of saying, “We don’t want to make any decisions by human choice which may show favoritism.” So they cast lots to let God decide himself so no one can debate the outcome. They were trusting God to direct the casting of the lots on which tribe gets what cities.
We don’t cast lots today when making decisions but we are instructed by God to pray about every situation and then trust him with the outcome. It may or may not be a favorable outcome. But let us take Philippians 4:6 seriously when God asks us not to be anxious about anything but in every situation take it to God in prayer for his guidance and his decisions. Then we are instructed to thank God in advance as a way of showing our trust in him for his outcome.
What situation are you facing today, big or small? Take it to the Lord in prayer and then give thanks ahead of time for his upcoming answer as a way of showing you trust him with the upcoming outcome.
