John Chapter 21
Do You Love Jesus?
Jesus is with his disciples the third time after resurrecting from the dead. He’s alone with Peter and asks Peter three times if he loved him. Three times Peter said yes I love you. Jesus told Peter three times to feed my sheep (in other words, do the ministry I am calling you to). Then Jesus told Peter how he will end up being killed for following him but still said to Peter, “Follow Me!”
Some questions I feel we need to give careful thought to without giving quick, flippant, and “religious” answers to.
1. DO YOU LOVE JESUS? Do you love him with all your heart, soul, mind, and strength? Do you want him in every aspect of your life?
2. ARE YOU FEEDING HIS SHEEP? Are you doing the work of ministry he has called you too? Are you? What’s missing? What are your obstacles? What do you need to do to get there?
3. ARE YOU FOLLOWING JESUS? Is he the foundation of your life? Do you want to take and follow him wherever you go? Are you willing to live for him 100%? Are you willing to die for him? Are you willing to be rejected or ridiculed for following him?
I feel these are questions we should periodically ask ourselves to make sure we’re not losing focus on what God has for us and is calling us to.
