John Chapter 19
The Power of Influence and the Power of Worry!
Power of Influence: Pilate found no guilt in Jesus, but had him flogged and treated brutally! When he heard that Jesus claimed to be the Son of God he was even more afraid. He did not feel Jesus deserved crucifixion but because of the influence of the people, he allowed him to be crucified.
My prayer is that I will not let the influence of this world alter how I respond to the presentation of the Gospel.
Power of Worry: While Jesus was on the cross, he saw his mother Mary next to the cross along with John the disciple. He spoke to Mary and John and wanted to make sure John saw Mary as his mother and she saw John as his son.
In other words Jesus wanted to make sure his mother was taken care of after leaving this Earth. I’m sure his mother was worried about what would happen to herself once Jesus died. Who would take care of her? In reality, she didn’t need to worry because Jesus ensured she had a place to go and be cared for because of living with John.
What do I worry about? Should I be worrying? Is Jesus going to take care of me? Do I trust him?
