John Chapter 13. Having a servant and loving heart.
Jesus is with his disciples at the Passover meal. He’s in his final hours on Earth before he is crucified and gives of his own life for all humankind. During this time he wants to pass on to his disciples what’s really important:
1. Be a servant to others. No matter what your position is, be willing to serve others.
2. Love others. Love is the key ingredient that gives testimony to others that you are a true disciple of Jesus.
Sadly to this world, a Christian is someone who people want nothing to do with. We Christians are labeled as haters, arrogant, unloving, condemning, and whatever else. How do we look at non-believers? With a loving heart or condemning heart? What impression do we leave with others? That we’re humble servants, quick to serve with a loving and attractive heart? Or are we quick to look down upon others and quick to condemn them, thus approaching them with an arrogant attitude as if we’re better than they are?
Who’s the last non-Christian you had contact with? With what you said or did to them, did it leave them thinking you were looking up to them or down on them? Did what you say or do leave them feeling loved? Or special?
Perhaps we should be more conscious of our actions and on how we come across to nonbelievers. Have a blessed day serving and loving others in the name of Jesus!
