John Chapter 12. I want to follow Jesus completely.
This chapter was ordained for today by God. Not just for me but for a relative of mine. Please be praying for him today for he’s at a crossroad with his life. I feel God wants to challenge him to surrender everything to the Lord and if he does he will see a transformation in his life that he has never seen before. He is struggling and I feel this chapter was for him.
Chapter 12 starts with a dinner put on in honor of Jesus by Mary, Martha, and Lazarus.
People are still swarming to find Jesus because of him raising Lazarus from the dead. There are even some Greeks who are very interested in seeing Jesus and makes a request to meet with him. Jesus responds to Philip and Andrew by speaking of his death and how it will be an act of glorification. His death is a glorified event for it provides salvation for all who believe. Perhaps that’s the message he wanted the Greeks to hear. The message that this salvation is available to everyone. But it’s a choice we all get to make. If we choose Jesus then we are choosing to follow him wherever he goes or wherever he leads us. It means we too are willing to even die for our faith in Jesus. But if we choose instead to love our life more than we love Jesus, then we will lose our life on Judgment Day before God.
There were some who believed in Jesus but kept silent because they didn’t want to be kicked out of the synagogue because they loved the praise of people over the praise from God.
Jesus, declared himself as the light of this world, as one we should want to follow more than loving this world, and more than wanting to receive praises from others. Such words don’t leave room for a mediocre faith. It seems to put us into a position of, “Do we want to serve God with everything we have and everything we do, at home, at work, at church, and amongst our friends?”
Maybe you are at a crossroad and God has challenged you to give up everything so he can transform your life so that he uses you in every aspect of your life. It doesn’t mean he’ll take you to a new job, but it may. The transformation will be in our hearts and people will see it.
