John chapter 10. Does my life give testimony that I’m following Christ or the world?
A couple times Jesus tells the Pharisees about how he is the shepherd who takes care of his sheep which are those who follow him. He talked about how he lays down his life for the sheep. That no one can be saved unless they go through him.
The Pharisees asked if he was the Messiah and Jesus said I have told you but you don’t believe.
He said his works gives testimony of who he is. The Pharisees have seen all his works of miracles but rather than recognize him as the Messiah they call him demon possessed. Jesus is bold and says I and the father are one. Pharisees are ready to Stone Jesus to death for claiming to be God.
Jesus defends himself by saying judge me according to my works. I do the father’s work therefore it gives testimony of the validity of who I am. It gives testimony that I am in God and God is in me.
What a great salvation message because God is love and he loves us. Our sins have separated us from God and we are destined to die. We deserve eternal punishment in hell.
Jesus is God’s son who chose to die in our place. Jesus gives his life for us so that our sins can be forgiven and we can have a restored relationship with God.
Jesus proves he is God’s son by doing the work of God: acts of love through miracles, healings, etc. Such acts should be praised and welcomed, yet instead, there were many who rejected the obvious evidence and held to their own traditions.
Just as Jesus’s works prove who he was, our life testimony should give evidence if we are following either the world and it’s personal desires or the Lord Jesus.
Does my life reflect the world and it’s practices? Or does my life reflect the life of Jesus because of my acts of love and commitment?
