Can’t You See That Your Problem Arises From Some Hidden Sin?
Eliphaz continues to give counsel to Job and says some very powerful true statements about God.
1. When going through tough times seek God and place your situation before him.
We should do this daily if need be.
2. God does great, unsearchable, and wondrous things.
We should never limit the power of God.
3. God reproves the wicked and disciplines even the proud.
May we always be aware of sin in our lives that needs to be turned from.
4. If you are really connected to the Lord then you would laugh at conflicts and destruction because you know God will rescue you.
This is where Eliphaz’s council took a turn towards the worst. He just assumed that because Job was going through difficult times that he obviously had sin in his life that God was wanting to get rid of. This assumption can’t be what we naturally assume. John 4:1 says that Jesus was led by God’s spirit into the desert to be tempted by the devil for 40 days. God let Jesus go through these very tough times and didn’t rescue him right away, but not because of sin in his life. It’s the same with us. He will let us travel through darkness and promises to never leave us nor forsake us. Yes, he’ll walk through the darkness with us. And as we come to the other side, he will have stretched us, equipped us, and built within us a stronger faith and trust in him.
