Job Chapter 36
God’s Purpose Or Will Is The Best Option.
Elihu emphasizes how God is mighty and there’s always a purpose behind what he is doing (vs. 5). And for those who are suffering, God will deliver them (vs. 15).
Perhaps we should change our prayers when going through tough times. Instead of saying, “God take this pain away from me NOW,” perhaps we should be praying, “God, let your purpose or will be done, not mine so that you get glorified.” Then be willing to follow his spirit’s leading.
Just as Jesus prayed in the garden in Matthew 26, he said, God remove this cup of suffering from me, because he was in great anguish but he ended his prayer with, yet not my will but your will be done. And then his act of obedience made salvation available to all humankind.
And our obedience will result in a great reward and the biggest reward is that which we receive in heaven. This reward will outweigh any suffering or pain we experience on Earth.
