Job Chapter 28
God’s Wisdom Or The World’s Wisdom?
Job speaks of several different precious metals in our world and how accessible they are. Some are very difficult to find. He compares that to true wisdom and how difficult it is to find. People search for wisdom all over the world, then Job reminds us that true wisdom comes from God and God only.
That wisdom overrides any other wisdom. God is Holy so his wisdom derives from Holiness and promotes Holiness and speaks against any form of evil. So when God’s wisdom is promoted in a given society, you see the evidence of it by the holiness that it produces.
Once a society begins to stray from God’s wisdom and focus more on worldly wisdom, which is selfishly motivated, then you begin to see a society corrupting itself. Look at some of the societies that surround us. There are cities that allow stealing and destroying businesses, we have the promotion of sexual freedom before marriage, not just a man with a woman but homosexual relationships. We see violence used as a viable option against those who oppose one’s viewpoint, or bullying someone who disagrees with them, or even taking the life of someone who disagrees with another’s ideologies. Whenever a society goes against the standards of God, you see a decay in the livelihoods of those around you.
We have to focus on the wisdom that comes from God. For it not only promotes Holiness but it leads to forgiveness of all sins and the salvation of one’s soul.
We’ve all made decisions outside the wisdom of God and suffered consequences, but don’t forget the wisdom of God that promotes forgiveness and New Life through Christ.
Who’s wisdom are you pursuing to direct your life? God’s or the world’s? Have you pursued the wisdom of God for the forgiveness of sins found through a relationship with Jesus?
