Job Chapter 26
Do You Want Power? Stay Connected To Christ.
Job portrays a picture of God as a God with power and of all wisdom. Yet he admits that this picture of God is actually just a fringe of what God can actually do since his power and wisdom is limitless.
How can our power or wisdom even compare with God? It can’t. The fact that we are created by God means we are totally subject to his power. Can you run? Can you breathe? Can you think? Can you reason? Can you eat? Can you lift objects? Can you see?
Do you understand that any abilities you have are God-given. You can’t out think God. Any authority you have falls in submission to God our creator. Even our everyday problems and concerns are subject to God, including the unexpected catastrophes of life. So when God says, Cast your cares upon him because he cares for you, He’s not kidding. He asks us to do that because his love for us is limitless and he wants to help us through each day’s anxieties and worries and concerns.
1 Peter 5:6-11 is a great passage to read. It calls us to humbly come before the Lord and cast all anxieties upon him. But at the same time we are called to be aware of the devil and his deception, to resist the devil, and to stand firm in our faith. We are to stand firm even through our sufferings, trusting that at the right time God will restore us and make us strong in him. Verse 11 reminds us that it’s God who has the power, not us, and his power lasts “forever and ever.”
Let us stay connected to Christ and gain access to his power to sustain and fulfill our lives.
