Job Chapter 24
God, Where Is Your Judgment?
Job questions God’s delay of judgment for those who are doing evil. There’s so many needy people who are taken advantage of from the wicked. So the needy cry out in distress, yet God seems to do nothing. Some wait till dark and then do evil, thinking no one will see them or know about it. Job acknowledges that God’s eyes are on them and eventually they will face God’s judgment.
We all struggle with sin in certain areas that still hold us in bondage. We all have that secret sin no one knows about, which we do when no one is around. It could be the sin of pornography, or a sexual lust, or being flirtatious, or an addiction, or eating disorder, or stealing, or whatever! We see blatant sin from others and wonder why God is not quick to respond with judgment. But how many times has God delayed his judgment on our own lives because of our secret sin? It’s easier to find the weaknesses of others and be quick to condemn, but perhaps we’d be wise to focus on ourselves for a minute and thank God for holding back his judgment on our unrepented sins. Just because it’s a secret sin doesn’t mean it’s any less sinful than those who do blatant sins.
CHALLENGE:
1. Thank God for his Mercy on your life for withholding judgment that we deserve.
2. Pray God helps and empowers you to overcome that sin you struggle with in secret.
3. Pray for those who seem to be getting away with murder. Pray they would find the Lord and repent of sin just as we must repent of our sins.
