Job Chapter 23
God, Help Us Never Lose A Hunger For Your Word.
Job, though he is in pain and bitter, he longs to be in the presence of the Lord. But he declares that as he seeks him he cannot find him but then acknowledges he will persevere to the end in victory. He says I will come forth as gold even though he is terrified by what God lays upon him. Even though he is faint in heart. Even though he fears God. Then after saying all that he declares his love for God’s Word more than his love for daily Bread.
Wow! In amongst the greatest trials Job has ever faced, he can still declare that his love for God’s word is more than his love for daily bread. Can we say that? What often happens when a person goes through trials and tribulations? They move away from God and his Word. Their longing for relief is greater than their longing for God’s Word. May we never lose our desire for God’s Word – No matter what trials we go through, how bitter we are, or how much we complain to God. God help us find victory and help us always be hungry for you and your Word.
