Job Chapter 12

I Choose to….

Job confronts his counselors because they say he is living in sin when in fact he declares he is righteous. Job says the issue is, for whatever reason, that God is allowing his turmoil and pain to happen. It has nothing to do with sin.

This brings me back to the “Big Picture” concept. God sees the big picture, so why is he allowing all this to happen? What is he trying to accomplish? Sadly I can’t answer such questions. I won’t even pretend to know the answer. Job’s friends / counselors acted as if they obtained such wisdom but they didn’t.

I can only speak from my life testimonies. As I look back on my life, I think of those times when I went through difficult circumstances: bullied, insecurities, years of pain in College, financial issues over and over again, being falsely accused, death of loved ones, having a pulmonary embolism, a broken back, broken leg at the peak of my running career, etc.

My testimony is, as I look back at all these misfortunes, and often wondering “Why?” , I can honestly say that God has got me through all of these. I experienced battles of the mind, my physical body, spiritual battles, and mental battles. So I can’t answer the questions WHY, but I know God is in control and I can trust him. I can trust him. That’s the one thing I can hold on to, the fact that I can trust him and still thank him and still praise him despite my circumstances. I choose to trust. I choose to praise. If I want, I can choose to live in despair. I can choose to walk away from God. Ultimately, I can choose to be controlled by my circumstances or I can choose to trust God through them. Which do you choose?
