Job Chapter 10
I Speak Out In The Bitterness Of My Soul!
Have you ever been bitter about something or someone. What’s it like? I feel bitterness motivates words of hatredness, disgust, and confusion. As a result, you carry within you emotions that never experience healing. They control you and you never let them go. It’s like carrying a bomb that’s ticking and ready to go off. You can get rid of the bomb and save your life, but instead you carry it out of hatredness or stubbornness or pride.
Job in his bitterness speaks in disgust. He’s all over the place trying to figure things out.
So in bitterness he speaks to God saying, am I guilty of sin or not? Or do you take great pleasure in oppressing the righteous and find joy in the plans of the wicked? Job recognizes that God created him but now feels like God wants to destroy him. He feels God once showed him kindness, but now wonders if it was always God’s plan to punish him.
Bitterness controls our soul and prevents healing. What’s worse is when we try to justify our bitterness. My husband cheated on me! The person stole money from me! They lied about me. I feel everybody is against me, including God. I’ve waited so long and I get no answer.
Don’t be carrying a bomb around with you that’s just waiting to go off. Let God heal you of your bitterness versus letting bitterness control you and destroy you. God wants to give you newness and restoration because he loves you. Let it go!
