Job Chapter 1
Curse God or Worship God. You Choose!
Job was described as a man who was blameless, upright, fearing God, turning away from evil. He owned a lot of animals and servants, and had 10 children. God even brought up to Satan how upright Job was.
In response to God’s comment, Satan says that because God has blessed him so much Job has no reason to curse God. So God gives Satan permission to test job by letting him touch his possessions.
In a fleeting moment, Job loses all his animals and all his servants except a few, and lost all his 10 children. Job responds by going before God broken and worshiped the Lord and did not charge God with wrongdoing.
Is Job crazy? He just lost everything and was still able to worship God. And Job did not charge God with wrongdoing.
In brokenness I can remember responding to God by cursing him when things weren’t going well financially but can also remember when I broke my back that I worshiped him.
God help me realize that everything I have is yours. May I never be so dependent upon things or people, or myself that I lose my dependence and faithfulness to you. May I always, not once in awhile, but always worship you through any broken moments of my life. Always!
