Jeremiah Chapter 6
I’m Not Blushing! I’m Not Ashamed!
Vs 1: God’s Wrath that he promised is indeed coming from the north. He tells Jerusalem you better flee because a terrible devastation is coming.
Vs 10: Sadly, God says, I warn them but they don’t listen to me. In fact, the words I speak are offensive to them because they find no pleasure in them.
Vs 15: They show no shame for their sin nor do they blush! Vs 19-20: They continually don’t listen and continually reject my laws. Their sacrifices and offerings mean nothing to me because their hearts are far from me.
I remember a time when my twin brother and I went with my grandmother to visit a friend of hers. I was sitting on the ladies couch with a glass coffee table in front of me, covered with expensive trinkets. As my brother walked in front of me to sit on the couch, I stuck my foot out and tripped him. Not real smart on my part because of all the expensive items near us. He stumbled and the lady saw me trip my brother and immediately confronted me. She wasn’t happy. But I denied tripping him but she was not accepting my lie. I showed no remorse! No shame! Nor did I blush for my wrongdoing. I kept denying it and she basically called me what i was, a liar.
God is confronting Jerusalem and they go on with life denying any wrongdoing and they are sinning but never blush or show shame. They ignore what God is saying to them.
Dear Lord! Forgive me when my ears and heart are shut and I make decisions that cause you pain. I pray that sin will bother me and cause me to blush and feel ashamed so that I am driven to faithfulness to you.
