Jeremiah Chapter 5
If I Could Find Just One, I’d Be Happy!
Vs 1: God says to Jeremiah the prophet, go throughout all Jerusalem and look everywhere. See if you can find just one person who deals honestly and seeks the truth. God said it in a way as if to be saying, “You won’t find even one!”
Vs 2: God admits that he will find some who say they are following God, but their hearts are far from God. Their lives don’t match their words.
Vs 30-31: God said that something horrible has happened in the land: the prophets lie, the priests don’t teach God’s Word, and the people of living the ways of their evil leaders.
If a nation and their leaders are going to promote evil then they produce an evil society. But as followers of Christ, we are called out of the evil ways and called to live according to God’s word. I wonder what God would say today? “Go into all the homes and workplaces and schools and see if you can find even one person who is leading their family to live for the Lord Jesus.” “Go into all the workplaces and schools and see if anyone is willing to stand up for the truth of Jesus regardless if they are persecuted for their faith or not.”
2 Corinthians 6:14-18 gives us a warning not to be influenced by peer pressure. In fact it says to come out from the evil ways and separate oneself so that you are not influenced by their evil ways.
